LEGACY SPORTS PARK WILL HOST CELEBRITY TANNING OPEN IN MAY, ARIZONA OPEN IN NOVEMBER
MESA, Ariz. – Legacy Sports USA announced today that National Pickleball, a division of Advanced Sports Media that develops, runs, and sells pickleball tournaments across the United States, is moving two of its premium events to Legacy Sports Park for the next five years at the 320-acre, multi-use family sports and entertainment complex that is set to open in January of 2022.
National Pickleball strives to create the best tournament experience for amateur players by sanctioning all of its tournaments through USA Pickleball, using pro-style nets when available, and hiring athletic trainers. National Pickleball will host a total of 13 tournaments serving more than 6,000 players in 2021, and will be the first organization to host an amateur tournament with a $15,000 prize purse, at the Palm Desert Amateur Open in December.
Additionally, National Pickleball strives to enhance the amateur experience and support the referee community by exceeding MMP sanctioning standards whenever possible, with at least three of their 2021 tournaments being fully sanctioned.
“National Pickleball is one of the premier amateur pickleball organizations in the country that excels in growing the game,” said Brett Miller, President of Legacy Sports Park. “We are excited to add this to our growing pickleball programming and to offer up two outstanding events strictly for amateurs.”
In 2022, National Pickleball will host at least 15 tournaments, including the two at Legacy Sports Park – The Celebrity Tanning Open (May 13-15) and the Arizona Open (Nov. 18-20), and plans to offer additional prize money opportunities for amateurs.
“National Pickleball is excited to host two events at Legacy in 2022 and beyond in order to provide amateur players the best possible experience,” said Seth Burleigh, COO of Advanced Sports Media. “We look forward to a long partnership with Legacy Sports as we both grow these events and the sport of pickleball.”
